Did you know that there is a special meaning behind the bird in our logo? The Ghanaian word “Sankofa” (SAHN-foh-fah) is often represented by a bird looking back, just like the one seen in our logo and means to “retrieve”. Sankofa, has a deeper and more powerful meaning which we at YLN live by. We believe that it is important to look back and retrieve the good from the past and bring it into the present. By reaching back and understanding our past, we can use it to teach us and to move forward to achieve our full potential.  Whatever we have lost, forgotten, forgone or been stripped of, can be reclaimed, revived, preserved and perpetuated.
